]]>In 1983 Michael Jordan was featured in Life Magazine for a photo that would serve as the inspiration for the iconic Nike Jumpman Logo, but funny enough MJ wasn't wearing Nike's, Both the Jordan 1 and the Nike Dunk wouldn't debut until 1985. Jordan was pictured skying in a pair of New Balance 480's a basketball shoe first released in 1983. Like other b-ball shoes the 480's were adopted by skaters because they could withstand all the abuse we put them through. The 480 became especially popular in the UK with numerous photos in RAD magazine throughout the 1980's. Recently New Balance Numeric has re-engineered this heritage basketball shoe to meet the needs of today's skateboarders. The New Balance Numeric 480 High features a buttery white full grain leather upper, articulated heel cuff, and a fuel cell midsole. The 480's go fast so don't sleep on these and lets see you create your own Jumpman photo.
Also make sure you grab one of our 480 High inspired Kinetic Discount Sneaks T-shirts. Show that Delco pride.

If you are riding more than a couple times a year do yourself a big favor and take the plunge and get your own set up. Buying your first board can be a tough decision and we see a lot of people who buy a board get hyped they don't have to wait in a rental line for an hour and start riding way more. Low and behold they've outgrown that beginner board as a rider after the first season. That's why for the past several seasons the Gnu Money has been our go to board for the first time snowboard owner. The Money is a great value especially when you consider it's made in the USA by snowboarders (with jobs), and it's not the kind of board that's going to feel like a wet noodle as soon as you learn to link your first turns. The Money features Gnu's C2 camber profile rocker under your feet with a bit of camber under your bindings. What this means is it gives you an easy ride where you are going to catch your edge way less often, but will still allow you to maintain an edge at high speeds. How the C2 really shines is when you combine it with MagneTraction. While it may not turn ice into powder MagneTraction is going to let you keep edge hold on less than ideal conditions keeping you upright and having fun even on the glassiest of east coast hard pack. The Gnu Money will get you from your first turns to ripping the terrain park and bombing down groomers in no time. If you pair this board some Bent Metal Bolt Bindings and DC Phase Boots you'll have your own snowboard set up that is guaranteed a great time for years to come.
Check out this video from Gnu to see the Money in action.
]]>As an Am on Jacuzzi and backed by Asics, he’s at that special point in his career where your potential feels limitless. Your crew is on the up and up, and everyone is hungry to put themselves on the map, but still juggling those conflicting feelings of invincibility and self-doubt as the challenges come along.
Despite the City of Philadelphia tearing apart their main spot, Muni, Joey and his crew are continuing the grind and filming there every day until they deem it fully un-skateable. The loss of Muni is obviously a huge blow to Joey, his crew, and the skate community at large, but he’s looking on the bright side and is motivated to make it all work for the better.

He is such a unique talent and we are very lucky that over the years he has had filmers and a board company that showcase it in a way it deserves. Chris Mulhern has been one of the best videographers in skateboarding over the last 2 decades and we couldn't be more happy to present this limited edition Hopps Mark Del Negro pro-model to go along with his latest video part in Mulhern's Untitled series. Growing up pretty much every shoe I skated was vulcanised, because for some reason I couldn't stand the feeling (or lack of) cupsole shoes. Every shoe that I so glowingly remember was a vulc sole. Remember the Fallen Chief? Or the Lakai Koston that was made from recycled fabrics? What about the ES square one? Or my (personal favorite) the Arto Gravis? What I'd GIVE to skate another pair of Gravis.
Anyways, you get the point. Cupsole - bad. Vulcsole - good. I religiously skated vulc shoes until one day I saw the NB 440 at the shop and thought that it didn't look too bad. It was slim, the colors were nice, but most importantly, the sole wasn't like 2 inches thick. Look I get it, you know we've all landed primo, it sucks, and we've all had that thought "well maybe if my shoes were more padded it wouldn't hurt so bad". Don't get me wrong there's some validity to this, but you can't overdo it.
So I skated a pair, and to my surprise, they were awesome. For someone with a wide foot such as myself, I thought that these would pinch my feet in the same way that a lot of slimmer shoes do, but they were pretty forgiving. The materials were durable, the 2 piece toe has a bottom underneath so that when you (inevitably) rip the stitching your foot doesn't just pop out of the front end, and most importantly I could feel my board!.
Now I know this all sounds kinda like a weird New Balance infomercial and this is my "testimony", but let's be honest here. I'm sure you're just like me, bored out of your mind, trying to think of ways to mix up your day to day because working from home (while at first seemed pretty sick) sucks. Now's the time for weird experimenting! Try something new! Check out the 440 here
