Dashawn Jordan: From Arizona Skate Parks to His Nike SB Dunk Collaboration

Dashawn Jordan has quickly become one of the most exciting skateboarders in modern street skating. Known for his powerful style, musical talent, and energetic personality, Jordan’s rise from Arizona skate parks to designing his own sneaker with Nike SB is a story of persistence, creativity, and hometown pride. His collaboration on the Nike SB Dunk Low Dashawn Jordan reflects both his personal journey and the environment that shaped him.

Dashawn Jordan was born in 1997 and grew up in Chandler, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona. Unlike many professional skateboarders who begin skating as young children, Jordan started skating later, during his middle school years. Despite starting later than most, he quickly developed an aggressive, fast-paced style that helped him stand out in the local Arizona skate scene.

Growing up in Arizona came with its own challenges. The desert climate meant hot pavement and long summer sessions at local skate spots. Jordan often skated public plazas, schoolyards, and local skateparks with friends, building his skills through countless hours of practice. Raised primarily by his mother, he also faced financial struggles while pursuing skateboarding. Like many young skaters, Jordan sometimes relied on hand-me-down boards and shoes while attending skate demos hoping to score free gear.

These experiences helped shape his determination. Within a few years, Jordan began gaining attention through skate videos and contests, eventually earning sponsorships and building a reputation as one of Arizona’s most promising skateboarders.

Jordan’s talent and dedication eventually led him to join the team at Nike SB, one of the most respected brands in skateboarding. Being sponsored by Nike SB placed him among some of the best skaters in the world and opened the door to major opportunities in both skate culture and sneaker design.

One of the biggest milestones in a skateboarder’s career is collaborating on their own sneaker. For Jordan, that opportunity came with the release of the Nike SB Dunk Low Dashawn Jordan. The Dunk is one of the most iconic skate shoes ever created, and receiving a personal colorway represents a skater’s influence in both the skateboarding and sneaker communities.

The Inspiration Behind the Nike SB Dunk Low

Jordan’s Nike SB Dunk design is heavily inspired by his Arizona roots. The sneaker features a black suede upper combined with snakeskin-textured overlays, referencing the desert wildlife common throughout Arizona. The rattlesnake theme connects directly to the environment Jordan grew up around, making the shoe a tribute to the Southwest.

The sneaker also features purple and teal accents inspired by the vintage colors of the Arizona Diamondbacks. These colors were common in the team’s early-2000s branding and were often seen on hats and apparel throughout Arizona while Jordan was growing up.

Today, Dashawn Jordan continues to push skateboarding forward with his powerful street skating and creative projects, proving that his Arizona roots will always remain a integral part of his story.
