The first NB# shoe that has been TTS for me (size 12). Wish they would make another wider option, even though the toe box is incredibly deceiving (being more wide than it looks). I lace from the second eyelet up on every shoe to give some extra room anyway. I have skated NB# for about 2 years now. 4 pairs of the 417 mid tops, 2 pairs of 417 Lo, 4 pairs of 808s, 2 pairs of 1010s. The 1010 has more board feel in the ball of the foot than the 808. the drop and overall stack height are less significant in the 1010 than that of the 808. The 808s and the 1010 has some heel slip. seems like there was an attempt to address that on the 1010 but I had to use a heel lock lacing technique to cut down on it. The 417 Lo has the best heel holding capability from my experience. I do switch out the 417 absorb insoles to free up some room with the ortholite insoles of the 808s or 1010s. Luckily the 1010s come with the ortholite insoles. I think NB# could've kept the inner liner stitching a little cleaner (you can see a bit of raw cut material on the edge where the tongue cut out is–could've been folded over, not a deal breaker by any means). The biggest issue I have with NB# shoes in any of the models I've mentioned here is in the elastic tongue retainers. I am glad they are there, but they need to be a bit wider for better feedback and MOST OF ALL they need to be consistent on both sides. One side shouldn't be so much shorter that it pulls the tongue down or to the side or where one side has slack in it and one side not. I haven't skated the 1010s to death but I also haven't skated any of the models listed until they are falling apart; they are insanely durable. For real, almost unbelievable in the models listed here. The 1010 is an amazing shoe. I have paid more for the highest tech running shoes and the 1010 is impressively close to those standards. Great shoe! Hope this helps.
BLEED for the EAST!!!
