New Balance Numeric and No-Comply Skateshop reunite to release the second collaborative shoe, the "Hippies & Cowboys" NM480. While the 2025 colorway paid homage to the physical design and aesthetics of our brick-and-mortar store, the 2026 reworking shows respect to the city of Austin's music culture.

In 1971, weary of years of writing for other artists and unable to record his own music, Willie Nelson left Nashville, TN and the commercial music scene to move back to Texas. A couple of years later, he called fellow Nashville country music star Waylon Jennings, telling him, "Get down here. I found our audience." As the story goes, in the early '70s Willie and Waylon were playing the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, TX when Waylon took a peek from behind the curtain before showtime. What he saw was hippies and cowboys hanging out together, without fighting.

"When I left Nashville I went to Texas because that's where I came from, and because I was playing in Texas a lot in different places. And I saw hippies and rednecks drinking beer together and smoking dope together and having a good time together and I knew it was possible to get all groups of people together - long hair, short hair, no hair - and music would bring them together." - Willie Nelson

The "Hippies & Cowboys" NM480 honors the roots of Outlaw Country music, born right here in Austin, TX, the Live Music Capital of the World. Highly skate-able suedes in black and arid stone inspired by cowboy hats and cork-and-suede footwear.

For added durability a tumbled leather mid-panel with "N" branding that features paisley pattern on the exterior and a custom tie-dye pattern on the interior.

Denim on the heel collar with No-Comply in a frayed embroidery.

Velvet stash pockets hidden in each tongue to keep your extra guitar picks, or cash, or whatever, we won't judge you on what you keep in there.

Insole artwork features a paisley pattern and a custom tie-dye by No-Comply team rider, Alder Wilson.

This comes with three lace options: a black flat lace, a black round lace, and hemp rope-style lace so you can customize this to your own style.
